My trip to South Africa just got better and better. The accommodations at the Baknbung Bush Lodge were awesome. You couldn’t get the lodge any closer to nature without risking getting eaten by the wildlife.

Don’t worry though, everything was secure. The lodge was surrounded by electrified wire that kept the ground walking animals out of the lodge.

The lodge itself was very very nice, along with its staff.

Pilanesberg Game Reserve is huge! The park has an area of 572 square kilometres (221 sq mi).

If you are really adventurous you can book a walking safari. I found out they are not for the faint of heart. My “transfer” driver told me he went on a walking safari 2 years ago. He told me his party where close to a rhino and I guess the wild rhino was a irritated that day. The rhino decided to charge them and they all had to run for their lives. Luckily no one was hurt. He told me he wouldn’t do a walking safari again. I don’t blame him. That changed my mind about doing a walking safari. I’ll stick to doing game drives in trucks. The animals think the trucks are big animals and they leave them alone.

The dining was great. You had the option of eating buffet style so you could eat as much as you wanted to.
